Flight Cancellation & Refund Policy

This page explains how flight cancellations, refunds, and date changes work when you book with FlightsMojo. Please read it before requesting a cancellation, so you know what to expect at each step.

Key Points to Remember

  • Airline fare rules always take priority over general policy — always check what applies to your specific ticket.
  • Most discounted tickets are non-refundable; always confirm this before booking if refund flexibility matters to you.
  • The 24-hour window is not guaranteed on every route or ticket type.
  • Service fees are separate from airline penalties, and both may apply together.
  • You will always see the final total before confirming a cancellation, refund, or date change.

How Refund Eligibility Works

Refunds and future travel credits are governed first by the airline's own fare rules, not by FlightsMojo. Some tickets are fully refundable, some are partially refundable, and many — particularly discounted fares — are non-refundable altogether. Before you request a cancellation, check the fare conditions shown at the time of booking, since these determine what you're eligible for.

A refund request will only be processed if all of the following are true:

  • The airline's fare rules permit cancellation and refund for that specific ticket.
  • FlightsMojo has received and accepted your cancellation request before the flight's scheduled departure.
  • You did not miss your flight. A "no-show" means you did not check in or board despite holding a valid ticket — most airlines do not offer any refund waiver in this case, regardless of the reason for missing the flight.
  • FlightsMojo is able to secure the necessary waiver or approval from the airline to process the cancellation.

If any of these conditions aren't met, the ticket may remain non-refundable even if you submit a cancellation request.

Once approved, refunds are typically credited back to your original payment method; the airline determines the processing timeline, and it can range from a few business days to several weeks depending on the fare type and payment method used.

The 24-Hour Cancellation Window

Many tickets can be cancelled for a refund within 24 hours of booking, subject to the airline's policy. A service fee applies for cancellations made in this window; the applicable fee is shown before you confirm your cancellation request.

This 24-hour window does not apply to all routes — some origins are excluded by airline policy. Once a ticket has been issued, it becomes subject to the airline's standard fare rules, and some tickets are non-refundable and non-changeable from the moment of booking, with no waivers available.

Cancellations After 24 Hours

Beyond the 24-hour window, cancellation options generally fall into two categories, depending on the airline's fare rules and the option you choose:

  • Future Travel Credit — the ticket value, minus any applicable airline penalty and service fee, is issued as credit toward a future booking.
  • Refund — where the fare rules allow it, the ticket value (minus the airline penalty and service fee) is refunded to your original payment method.

Airline-imposed cancellation penalties apply in both cases and vary by airline, cabin class, and route. These are separate from FlightsMojo's service fee and are set entirely by the airline.

Flight Date Changes

If you need to change your travel date rather than cancel, a change (exchange) request is subject to:

  • The airline's fare rules for date changes on that specific ticket.
  • Any fare difference between your original ticket and the new flight.
  • A FlightsMojo service fee, which varies depending on how close the request is to your new travel date — requests made closer to departure are typically charged a higher fee than those made well in advance.

Not all tickets permit date changes. Where changes are not allowed under the fare rules, the ticket cannot be modified regardless of timing.

Service Fees

FlightsMojo charges a service fee for processing cancellations, refunds, and date changes. This fee is separate from, and in addition to, any penalty or fee charged by the airline itself. Government-imposed taxes and fees are also subject to change and are collected separately.

In every case, you will only be charged the final total amount shown to you before you confirm the request — there are no undisclosed charges added afterward.

All service fees are non-refundable once the request has been processed, and are subject to change without prior notice.

Special Service Requests

Certain situations require additional documentation and are handled on a request basis, subject to the airline's review and approval. These include:

  • Passenger Name Correction — required when the name on the ticket does not match the passenger's passport or other government-issued ID.
  • Baggage-Related Issues — requires all original receipts and baggage tags to be retained and submitted.
  • No-Show — requires documentation explaining why you were unable to make your scheduled departure.
  • Denied Boarding — requires documentation explaining why boarding was denied for your scheduled departure.
  • Duplicate Booking — requires copies of all tickets showing the same itinerary booked with FlightsMojo, in order to process a refund.

Each of these requests is reviewed individually and approval is not guaranteed — the airline's fare rules and internal policies determine the final outcome, not FlightsMojo alone.

How to Request a Cancellation or Refund

All cancellation and refund requests must be submitted through FlightsMojo's official support channels. Call +1 929-349-3635 or contact us through the app, and our team will confirm your ticket's eligibility, walk you through the applicable fees, and process the request on your behalf. Requests sent through unofficial channels may not be processed.

Questions You May Have

If your cancellation falls within the airline's 24-hour window and the fare permits it, yes — minus the applicable service fee. Outside that window, an airline cancellation penalty will also apply, which reduces the refund amount.

In most cases, no. A missed flight is treated as a "no-show," and most airlines do not issue any refund or waiver for no-shows, regardless of the reason. Check-in and boarding are required to remain eligible for any refund on that ticket.

Non-refundable generally means the fare itself won't be returned, but you may still be eligible for a future travel credit in some cases, and government taxes and fees are sometimes refundable even on non-refundable fares. It's worth submitting a request so we can confirm what applies to your specific ticket.

Yes, if the fare rules for your ticket allow date changes. You'll be responsible for any fare difference between your original and new flight, plus a service fee. Requests made closer to your new travel date are typically charged a higher fee than those made well in advance.

Possibly, since airlines require your ticket name to match your passport or government ID exactly. Submit a name correction request as soon as you notice the error; airline approval is required and isn't guaranteed.

This is handled as a special service request and requires documentation from the airline explaining why boarding was denied. Once submitted, the airline reviews it and determines any applicable refund or compensation.

Yes, this is treated as a duplicate booking request. Submit copies of both tickets showing the identical itinerary, and we'll process a refund for the duplicate once verified.

No. You will always see the final total — including FlightsMojo's service fee, any airline penalty, and applicable taxes — before you confirm a cancellation, refund, or date change request.
