• The airline decides if a change is allowed. Not every ticket can be changed.
• Most bookings allow one change. A second change costs more.
• If the new flight costs more, you pay the difference. If it costs less, you may get credit or a refund.
• Some fares come with a free or low-cost change option for one change.
• Discounts and add-ons from your first booking are usually not carried over.

You can usually change one or more of these:

• Date — fly on an earlier or later day.
• Route — change your starting city or your destination.
• Airline — switch to a different airline on the same route, if your ticket allows it. Not all tickets allow this.

Note: A change must be for the same passenger(s) as the original booking. Adding or removing a passenger is a different request, not a flight change.

The airline does, not FlightsMojo. Each airline has its own rules for the ticket you bought. Some fares allow easy, low-cost changes. Some charge a change fee plus any price difference. Some don't allow any change at all once booked.

This depends on two things:

• When you booked — if you booked very recently, you may only have a few hours before departure to make a change. If you booked earlier, you may have more time, but you'll usually still need to request the change at least a day before your flight.
• How close you are to departure now — most tickets stop allowing changes at some point close to departure. This cut-off is set by the airline and is different for each fare.

Always check your ticket's exact terms, since the time you get can be different for every booking.

Most bookings allow one change. If you already used your one change and want to change the booking again, the second change is treated as a normal request — even if your first change was free. Regular fees will apply from that point.

If you booked a round trip, you can usually change your outbound and return flights on their own. Changing only your return flight, for example, does not use up your change on the outbound flight.

Two different costs can apply:

• Price difference — if the new flight costs more, you pay the difference. If it costs less, you may get the difference back as a credit or a refund, depending on your fare.
• Change fee — a separate fee for making the change itself. This is not the same as the price difference. Some fares don't charge this fee at all.

You will always see the full amount before you confirm the change.

Some fares come with a free or discounted change built in. This can lower or fully remove the change fee but only for one change. If your fare doesn't include this, or you've already used it once, normal change fees will apply.

Usually not. A few things are normally left out when your flight is changed:

• Any discount or cashback from your first booking.
• Extra services you paid for separately, like travel insurance or baggage.
• Any fee you already paid for a free-change option.
